The Bike Packer Plus is a large bike pannier for the rear rack. With its symmetrical design and slanted shape on both sides, this Ortlieb bag provides enough space so you’ll be able to pedal without clipping your heals on the pannier, while also able to be used individually either on the left or right side of the bike.
These panniers include an external pocket with a flap that is waterproof as opposed to the old mesh ones, a redesigned form fitting lid, shoulder straps, horizontal compression straps to complement the vertical ones, and a more durable bottom. The Ortlieb QL2 system allows fast and easy single-handed mounting and removal of the panniers. Simply lift the top handle to remove the panniers from the rack.
The same goes for attaching them. The QL2 hooks on the top of the panniers can be slid forward and backwards, so that the bags can be positioned anywhere on the rack without requiring any tools. They are suitable for racks with a tube diameter up to 16 mm (hook inserts for diameters of 8 and 11 mm are included). There is also a fully adjustable hook at the base of the panniers to secure them tight to the rack, so they won’t flop around. I’ve never experienced or seen an Ortlieb pannier fall off a rack while its properly installed. The QL2 system has the advantage that it works with the Ortlieb pannier lock cables .
Two large and highly reflective 3M Scotchlite reflectors ensure safety in the dark.
The cordura fabric with which these panniers are constructed is incredibly durable and completely waterproof. The only way water is getting into these bags is if you completely submerge them and it seeps underneath the lid. This is not a common occurrence when cycling!
