The Back Roller Classic is a large bike pannier for the rear rack. With its symmetrical design and slanted shape on both sides, this Ortlieb bag provides enough room so you’ll be able to pedal without clipping your heals on the pannier. These panniers can also be used individually either on the left or right side of the bike.
There is a large internal pocket on the Back Roller Classics to keep your gear organized, and they come with a shoulder strap so you can carry them around with ease. We also sell Ortlieb’s Pannier Backpack System that turns the panniers into a daypack.
The Ortlieb QL1 system used with the Bike Roller Classic panniers allows for fast and easy single-handed mounting and removal of the panniers. Simply lift the top handle to remove the panniers from the rack.
The same goes for attaching them. The QL1 hooks at the top of the panniers can be slid forwards and backwards independently with a quick twist of an allen wrench, letting you place the panniers on your rack anywhere you want them to be (no heal strikes!). They are suitable for racks with a tube diameter up to 16 mm (hook inserts for diameters of 8 and 11 mm are included). There is also a hook at the base of the panniers to secure them to the rack, keeping them from flopping around. I’ve never experienced or seen an Ortlieb pannier fall off a rack while its properly installed.
Two large and highly reflective 3M Scotchlite reflectors ensure safety in the dark.
The PVC fabric with which these panniers are constructed is incredibly durable and completely waterproof. When the lid is rolled down and secured, they are completely waterproof, just like bags used in rafting. They’ll even float if there is enough air inside!
